Ready Answers to Your Tough Questions

Anyone regularly doing business with the National Composite Center knows most “tough questions” eventually find their way to the desk of Harry Couch - NCC’s Senior Technical Advisor.

Mr. Couch has been involved in the development and production implementation of polymeric materials for 46years. 36 of those years were with General Motors. He has been directly involved with controlled fiber composites for 29 years.

Mr. Couch has been heavily involved with automotive professional societies, including: membership in the Engineering Society of Detroit; serving as Chairman of the Advanced Composites Conference and Exposition; and serving as Chairman of the Dayton Section of SAE. He is a member of the Delphi Automotive Inventors and Scientists Hall of Fame. He was elected as a Fellow in the Society of Automotive Engineering International in 1997 for his leadership in the use of composites in automotive applications. He has also been recognized with an “Outstanding Engineer Award” for his work in structural composite development. This award was conferred by the Affiliate Societies Council of the Miami Valley. Quickstep Demo Days

Quickstep to launch Demo Day Events at NCC Campus

Quickstep, a unique molding process, was unveiled in October when Quickstep Technologies Pty Ltd (a subsidiary of Quickstep Holdings Limited) established its North American Quickstep Center of Excellence at NCC's Dayton Campus for Advanced Materials Technologies (DC-AMT). To showcase the QS20 composites production machine's capabilities, Quickstep is planning a series of Demo Days.

The Quickstep process uses fluid-filled, balanced pressure, heated floating mold technology for the curing, partial curing and joining of composite materials. The process can use thermoset and certain thermoplastic prepregs as well as wet resin/dry fiber to produce superior composite parts that feature improved strength, stiffness, surface finish and appearance while achieving aerospace grade void contents of less than two percent.

Participants that sign up for a Demo Day will receive:

A comprehensive presentation on Quickstep technology

Hands-on participation in the lay-up and curing of parts

Direct interaction with Quickstep experts
